The problem is, the price. Now, I've just seen the Pro RRP at £307. For £5 more, I can get a 256GB Steam Deck, which is infinitely more powerful, and capable of emulating Xbox 360 and PS3 games, as well as playing PC games, and acting as a portable PC. How do you justify buying that, when it's in the same price bracket as the Steam Deck? Once these retro systems breach a certain price point, I keep wondering, why wouldn't I just buy a Steam Deck? If I can afford one of those, then I can afford that. At that point, I don't think that they are viable.

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from. The RP4 Pro is not for anyone and isn’t as powerful to support the high process PS2 or Switch Games. Honestly it’s best to Save more money for the Odin 2 or the Steam Deck. Then again it just depends on Budget really. I’ve owned many Retroid Pocket Handhelds and through my experience it’s mostly out of Portable though it withdraws Screen Size & Performance. Hopefully you’ll find an Emulation Handheld that suits you.

I have the 556 but this makes me want to play toca for the tracks on PC even if emulated 😄 I had the first 2 on playstation. I love the 556 for playing up to Dreamcast on a big oled and a decent price. Nes/SNES/psx also. It's good that you point out it's shortcomings and I think that racing games are some of the hardest to emulate due to rendering fast moving 3d environments. But I'm glad there's a less premium priced handheld with an oled screen for enjoying older titles.. without resorting to those 3.5" LCDs which are just too small for big hands and to soak everything in.

Ya, I'm basically waiting for someone to completely hack the switch to play PS2, ps3, GC, Wii, etc. That way I don't have to buy another handheld.

Its probably the best and easiest way to do pokemon games on the go which should of been the first games you tried tbh. Also i wouldnt say just bc it has ps1 games u needed to play them that much. As for the games it comes with that happens with every anbernic handheld ive bought. Ive used it wveryday since i got it for gaming here and there when i have downtime qnd it hqs worked perfectly for it. I also would say to get a 3rd party software which fixes a bunch of problems like no favorites. Also i added a different sd card which is also a very common and known problem with anbernic then i only added a handful of games do it wasnt full of games i would never play

Sorry, what happened? To be honest, if you really want to play PS2 without issues give the RP4 and RG556 get an Odin 2. Performance and compatibility between Snapdragon vs mediatek isn’t even close.

I have had retroids since the RP2. My last experience with the RP3+ was great until it didnt get charged after leaving it for a few weeks now its stuck in a boot loop. Still trying to figure out a fix. But instead of giving retroid even more of my money for a very small jump in performance. I chose to go with the AYN Odin 2 Pro. Im tired of having to constantly mess with settings just to get something barely playable. The Odin Pro will blow this out of the water but you are paying for that extra performance. In the long run i believe the Odin 2 to be a better handheld for me.

You should play Race Driver 2006 on PSP instead. Pretty much whenever there is an option to play a PSP version of a PS2 game it is going to run better.

I love my Ps vita I’ve been playing them lately specially playing retro ps1 classic games such RE1,2&3 it looks so damn good and the music it’s sooo good I also playing some Games like Sly Coopers 1,2&3 on psvita and for the first time playing Dino Crisis on ps vita I have never play this game but I am excited

I have a modded GBA and saving up for an Everdrive. I do find the original GBA more comfortable to hold in my hands.

This is my dream jrpg console. I always wanted to take snes, gba and ps1 jrpgs with me and play them in random places, progressing bit by bit every day. I'm very happy! Also, this is now my yearly Crash Bandicoot trilogy playthrough system!

People really look past great consoles cause they’re not made by any media bigwig. If you look past the licensed Consoles you could actually find amazing stuff Like the playmate and the analog pocket.

I never put my portable game consoles in my pocket even as a kid. I always put em inside a storage case and then in my little bag. That said, this Rg556 seems appealing to me if I can play Genji, Onimusha, Okami, Shinobido, The Warriors, FF12 in it flawlessly. These are my favorite games for the PS2

It's damn near perfect. The only thing it's missing imo is a widget to change the handheld settings from retro to xbox style.. if im playing gamepass, steam or ps2, psp, dreamcast games you have to go to handheld settings - input - input style then select retro or xbox. For big N games you have to swtich back to retro. If they could develop a toggle or widget to switch back and forth that would be awesome.

this thing is amazing but unfortunately ps2 emulation is just not there yet for us to be able to really have fun with it. most games only work well in the first hour of gameplay then the rest is broken so even tho the device is so powerful it cant really be taken advantage of properly making it a bit of a dissapointing experience
